Six TablespoonsFinely Cut Bacon
TeaspoonCinnamon

Instructions

  1. Combine two #2 cans of kidney beans (undrained), cup of brown sugar, six tablespoons of finely cut bacon, teaspoon of cinnamon, teaspoon of nutmeg, four tablespoons of vinegar, salt, and pepper in a saucepan or pot.
  2. Simmer the mixture to reduce the liquid and allow the flavors to blend. (The duration of simmering is not specified, but typically this would be until the sauce has thickened to your liking and the beans are tender, perhaps 30 minutes to an hour or more on low heat).
