2 CupsWater (for cranberries)
2 CupsSugar
Grated Rind of One-HalfOrange
Medium or LargeApplesauce (Stark’s Delicious Apples recommended)
Amount as desired (originally “cup”)Water (for applesauce)

Instructions

  1. For the cranberry sauce: Combine package of cranberries, 2 cups of water, 2 cups of sugar in a pot.
  2. Cook for at least one-half hour or until all berries are cooked.
  3. Ten minutes before the cranberries are done cooking, add the grated rind of one-half of an orange to the pot with the cranberries.
  4. For the apple sauce (if making from scratch, Stark’s Delicious Apples recommended): Cook apples separately. Add a cup of water (or as desired for consistency) and one-half teaspoon of cinnamon to the apples. Cook on low flame until soft. (Alternatively, the letter mentions using McIntosh apples for the applesauce.)
  5. Cool the cooked cranberries and the apple sauce.
  6. Once cooled, mix the cranberry sauce and apple sauce together.

Note

Hope I don’t make this recipe complicated! Forget! I always use McIntosh apples.
