2 lbsRound Steak
As neededFlour
2 cupsSliced Onion
To tasteSalt
To tastePepper
4 tbspButter or Fat
1 cupWater
1 cupSour Cream

Instructions

  1. Pound steak well, dredge with flour, and cut into pieces about 3 inches square.
  2. Simmer onions in butter or fat until golden but not brown.
  3. Remove onions and, in the same fat, brown the meat.
  4. When well browned, sprinkle with flour, salt, and pepper. Turn and repeat on the other side.
  5. Add onions, water, and sour cream.
  6. Cook very slowly until meat is tender, about 1½ hours.
