1 bar | Dark Chocolate (e.g., Hershey’s, approx 4 oz) |
Cup | Tap Water |
1 (9-inch) | Baked Pie Shell |

Optional | Extra Dark Chocolate (for shaving) |
Instructions
- Break the dark chocolate bar into smaller pieces.
- Place the chocolate pieces in a medium saucepan and melt over low heat, stirring occasionally until smooth. (Alternatively, use a double boiler).
- Once the chocolate is melted, add the entire can of sweetened condensed milk.
- Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly. Continue cooking and stirring until the mixture thickens and becomes lumpy (as described in the original recipe).
- As soon as the mixture becomes lumpy, remove the saucepan from the heat.
- Immediately pour in the cup of tap water.
- Stir the mixture vigorously until it becomes smooth.
- Pour the smooth chocolate filling into the pre-baked 9-inch pie shell.
- Chill the pie in the refrigerator for several hours, or until the filling is completely set.
- Top with whipped cream before serving, if desired.
- Optional Decoration: You can decorate the top with shavings of dark chocolate just before serving.
