1Unbeaten Egg White
CupPowdered Sugar (Confectioners’ Sugar)
3 CupsGranulated Sugar
As NeededFood Coloring (Optional)

Instructions

  1. Place 1 unbeaten egg white in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add cup powdered sugar and 3 cups granulated sugar to the egg white.
  3. If using, add food coloring at this stage.
  4. Knead with hands until the egg white is evenly distributed and the mixture is damp enough to hold its shape when squeezed in your hand.
  5. Pack the sugar mixture firmly into a mold.
  6. Place the mold flat side down (onto a baking sheet or other flat surface).
  7. Carefully remove the mold.
  8. Bake in a 200°F (90-95°C) oven for 5-10 minutes, depending on the size of the mold. The longer they bake, the thicker the shell will be.
  9. Remove the unhardened sugar from the inside (this creates a hollow shell). This unhardened sugar can be reused.
  10. Allow the molded sugar shapes to dry completely.
