Instructions
- Place 1 unbeaten egg white in a mixing bowl.
- Add cup powdered sugar and 3 cups granulated sugar to the egg white.
- If using, add food coloring at this stage.
- Knead with hands until the egg white is evenly distributed and the mixture is damp enough to hold its shape when squeezed in your hand.
- Pack the sugar mixture firmly into a mold.
- Place the mold flat side down (onto a baking sheet or other flat surface).
- Carefully remove the mold.
- Bake in a 200°F (90-95°C) oven for 5-10 minutes, depending on the size of the mold. The longer they bake, the thicker the shell will be.
- Remove the unhardened sugar from the inside (this creates a hollow shell). This unhardened sugar can be reused.
- Allow the molded sugar shapes to dry completely.
