Recipe

MeasurementsIngredients
1½ cupsFlour
⅔ cupShortening
¼ tspBaking Soda
1 cupBrown Sugar
½ tspBaking Powder
2Eggs, Slightly Beaten
¼ tspSalt
2 cupsBroken Nuts
½ tspCloves
2 cupsRaisins
1 tspCinnamon
2 cupsChopped Dates
½ tspAllspice
2 TbspSherry or Brandy

Instructions

  1. Sift flour; measure; add soda, baking powder, salt, spices; sift again.
  2. Cream shortening; gradually add sugar & continue to beat until light.
  3. Add slightly beaten eggs & mix well.
  4. Add nuts, raisins, & dates.
  5. Add dry ingredients alternately with wine.
  6. Chill.
  7. Drop by tsp. 2 or 3 inches apart on greased sheet.
  8. Bake at 375°F for 12 to 15 minutes.
