1½ cups | Flour |
⅔ cup | Shortening |
¼ tsp | Baking Soda |
1 cup | Brown Sugar |
½ tsp | Baking Powder |
2 | Eggs, Slightly Beaten |
¼ tsp | Salt |
2 cups | Broken Nuts |
½ tsp | Cloves |
2 cups | Raisins |
1 tsp | Cinnamon |
2 cups | Chopped Dates |
½ tsp | Allspice |
2 Tbsp | Sherry or Brandy |
Instructions
- Sift flour; measure; add soda, baking powder, salt, spices; sift again.
- Cream shortening; gradually add sugar & continue to beat until light.
- Add slightly beaten eggs & mix well.
- Add nuts, raisins, & dates.
- Add dry ingredients alternately with wine.
- Chill.
- Drop by tsp. 2 or 3 inches apart on greased sheet.
- Bake at 375°F for 12 to 15 minutes.
