Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a pan or pie plate.
  2. Separate three eggs. Beat the three egg whites until stiff peaks form; set aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together three egg yolks, one cup of sugar, cup of chopped nuts, cup of crushed soda crackers, teaspoon of baking powder, and a dash of salt.
  4. Gently fold the stiffly beaten egg whites into the yolk mixture.
  5. Pour the batter into the greased pan or pie plate.
  6. Bake for hour (30 minutes) at 350°F.
  7. Cool the torte.
  8. To serve, spread with tart jam, jelly, whipped cream, or serve with fruit.
