3 OuncesMargarine
3 TablespoonsWhite Karo or 6 oz. Sugar
6 OuncesSelf-rising Flour
PinchSalt
1 TablespoonWater
2 OuncesRaisins
1/4 TeaspoonNutmeg
1/4 TeaspoonGinger
1/4 TeaspoonCinnamon
1/4 TablespoonLemon Juice
Grated Rind of 1 Lemon
1Egg

Instructions

  1. Cream Margarine and sugar (as syrup).
  2. Beat in egg.
  3. Beat till fluffy.
  4. Sift Flour with salt and spices and add to mixture alternately with lemon juice and water mixed together.
  5. Stir in raisins and lemon rind.
  6. Pour into greased tin and smooth flat.
  7. Then add topping before baking.
