Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (Note: The card warns “Don’t go over this temp as it cooks too fast,” which is contradictory. A lower temperature like 350°F or 375°F might be more typical and safer to prevent burning; adjust based on your oven and preference, or watch very carefully at 425°F).
  2. Grease an angel food cake pan.
  3. In a large bowl, beat one box of lemon cake mix, four eggs, and one cup of water (or orange juice) for 4 minutes with an electric mixer.
  4. When thoroughly blended, add cup of oil and one box (or less, to taste) of poppy seeds.
  5. Blend these ingredients together with the batter.
  6. Pour the batter into the greased angel food cake pan.
  7. Bake for 45-55 minutes, or until evenly browned and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
