Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch baking pan.
- Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the sugar, Crisco, egg, nuts, dates, apples, nutmeg, salt, cinnamon, baking soda, and flour. Mix thoroughly. The dough will be very thick.
- Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 1 hour.
- Cool and Serve: Let the cake cool in the pan for a few minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely. Serve with whipped cream.
