Cake

MeasurementsIngredients
2 cupsSugar
1 cupShortening
1 cupButtermilk
4Egg Yolks
2 1/2 cupsCake Flour
4Egg Whites, beaten
1 teaspoonSoda
1 teaspoonVanilla
1 packageGerman Chocolate dissolved in 1 cup water

Filling

MeasurementsIngredients
3Egg Yolks
1 cupSugar
1 cupCoconut
1/2 cupPecans
1/2 pintWhipping Cream or lump of butter

Instructions

Cake

  1. Dissolve soda in 1/4 cup buttermilk.
  2. Beat sugar, shortening, and egg yolks together.
  3. Add flour, buttermilk, soda, and chocolate.
  4. Beat well.
  5. Fold in beaten egg whites.
  6. Bake at 350°F.

Filling

  1. Mix together and cook until thickened.
