Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour cake pans (e.g., two 8-inch or 9-inch round pans, or a 9x13 inch pan, though pan size is not specified on the card).
- In a large bowl, sift together two and cups of sifted Softasilk flour, one and cups of sugar, one and teaspoons of double-acting baking powder, one and teaspoons of baking soda, and one teaspoon of salt.
- Add cup of cocoa powder, cup of high-grade shortening, and cup of water to the dry ingredients.
- Beat vigorously with a spoon for 2 minutes, or with an electric mixer at medium speed for 2 minutes.
