3 1/2 Tablespoons | Cocoa |
1/2 Cup | Buttermilk |
1 Teaspoon | Soda |

1 Teaspoon | Vanilla |
Icing

1/3 Cup | Milk |
1 Stick | Oleo |
1 Box | Sifted Powdered Sugar |
1 Teaspoon | Vanilla |
1 Cup | Nuts |
Instructions
- Mix in a bowl 2 Cups flour, 2 Cups sugar.
- In a saucepan 1 Stick oleo, 1/2 Cup shortening, 1 Cup water, 3 1/2 Tablespoons cocoa.
- Bring to a boil.
- Pour over dry ingredients & mix well.
- Add 1/2 Cup buttermilk 1 Teaspoon soda, 2 eggs, 1 Teaspoon vanilla.
- Put in 11 X 16 pan at 400 for 20 min.
- Five min. before cake is done make icing.
- Put in saucepan 3 1/2 Tablespoons cocoa, 1/3 Cup milk, 1 stick oleo.
- Bring to boil.
- Add 1 box sifted powdered sugar, 1 Teaspoon vanilla, 1 Cup nuts.
- Spread over hot cake & let cool.
Note
To sour milk add 1 Tablespoon vinegar.
