Cake

MeasurementsIngredients
2 CupsFlour
2 CupsSugar
1 StickOleo
1/2 CupShortening
1 CupWater
3 1/2 TablespoonsCocoa
1/2 CupButtermilk
1 TeaspoonSoda
2Eggs
1 TeaspoonVanilla

Icing

MeasurementsIngredients
3 1/2 TablespoonsCocoa
1/3 CupMilk
1 StickOleo
1 BoxSifted Powdered Sugar
1 TeaspoonVanilla
1 CupNuts

Instructions

  1. Mix in a bowl 2 Cups flour, 2 Cups sugar.
  2. In a saucepan 1 Stick oleo, 1/2 Cup shortening, 1 Cup water, 3 1/2 Tablespoons cocoa.
  3. Bring to a boil.
  4. Pour over dry ingredients & mix well.
  5. Add 1/2 Cup buttermilk 1 Teaspoon soda, 2 eggs, 1 Teaspoon vanilla.
  6. Put in 11 X 16 pan at 400 for 20 min.
  7. Five min. before cake is done make icing.
  8. Put in saucepan 3 1/2 Tablespoons cocoa, 1/3 Cup milk, 1 stick oleo.
  9. Bring to boil.
  10. Add 1 box sifted powdered sugar, 1 Teaspoon vanilla, 1 Cup nuts.
  11. Spread over hot cake & let cool.

Note

To sour milk add 1 Tablespoon vinegar.
