Measurements | Ingredients |

2 Cakes | Yeast |
2 1/2 Cups | Lukewarm Water |
2 TBLS | Honey |
1 TBLS | Salt |
2 TBLS | Melted Shortening or Salad Oil |
7 to 8 Cups | Flour |
Instructions
- Sprinkle yeast on lukewarm water in a large mixing bowl.
- Add Honey, let stand for 5 minutes.
- Mix until yeast is dissolved.
- Add salt, shortening, and 3 cups of flour.
- Mix thoroughly with an electric mixer.
- Mix in 3 more cups of flour.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of flour on the board.
- Turn out dough onto the board.
- Knead until smooth (about 5 min).
- Add more flour if necessary.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, turn to grease the top.
- Cover and let rise in a warm place until double in bulk (1 to 1 1/2 hours).
- Punch dough down and divide in half.
- Shape roll portion of dough on a floured board into a circle about 10 inches in diameter.
- Grasp edge and roll tightly, similar to a jelly roll.
- Place on a baking sheet sprinkled with cornmeal.
- Bake at 375° for about 30 minutes.
