Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cut the loaf of French bread into slices, but not completely through (leave the bottom crust intact).
- Prepare the scallions: Wash, trim off their “beards” (root ends), and cut at the green end until they are only 5-6 inches long. Then chop them fine.
- In a bowl, combine the lb. butter (at room temperature), 2 tablespoons dried parsley, 2 tablespoons chives, the finely chopped scallions, 2 tablespoons dill seed (or dill weed), and teaspoon salt. Mix well to create a seasoned butter.
- Spread the seasoned butter between the slices of the French bread.
- Wrap the loaf in foil (optional, but helps keep it moist and heats evenly) or place in a baking dish.
- Bake for hour (30 minutes).
- Serve warm.
