2 TablespoonsDried Parsley
2 TablespoonsChives
1 BunchScallions (Green Onions)
2 TablespoonsDill Seed or Dill Weed

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cut the loaf of French bread into slices, but not completely through (leave the bottom crust intact).
  3. Prepare the scallions: Wash, trim off their “beards” (root ends), and cut at the green end until they are only 5-6 inches long. Then chop them fine.
  4. In a bowl, combine the lb. butter (at room temperature), 2 tablespoons dried parsley, 2 tablespoons chives, the finely chopped scallions, 2 tablespoons dill seed (or dill weed), and teaspoon salt. Mix well to create a seasoned butter.
  5. Spread the seasoned butter between the slices of the French bread.
  6. Wrap the loaf in foil (optional, but helps keep it moist and heats evenly) or place in a baking dish.
  7. Bake for hour (30 minutes).
  8. Serve warm.
