Instructions
- Combine the half gallon of red wine with the orange peelings (outer zest only), five or six cloves, a few slices of ginger, a few cardamom seeds, and a few cinnamon sticks.
- Soak this mixture overnight.
- The next day, bring the wine and spice mixture almost to a boil.
- Allow it to steep (let it sit in the hot liquid to infuse flavors).
- Add sugar to taste, starting with about cup, and stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- If desired, “spike” with Vodka to taste.
- Serve immediately (warm) with a few raisins and almonds in each glass.
